IDEA OGÓLNA

Dokumentowanie sztuki nabrało szczególnego znaczenia wraz z pojawieniem się awangardowego dzieła sztuki, które jest nieorganiczne (według Peter Burger "Teoria awangardy"). Wywodzi swoje formy z kolażu, montażu (fotomontażu, montażu filmowego). Jest powiązane z przestrzenią realną (environment, instalacje), bądź oparte na czasie (akcji na żywo), wreszcie jest konceptualną ideą. Jego cechą jest hybrydalność form i ambiwalencja znaczeń. Współczesne dzieła sztuki nadal korzystają z dziedzictwa awangard. Dokumentowanie tego rodzaju dzieł jest częścią procesu kształtowania form i tworzenia znaczeń. Dokumentacja zyskuje dużą autonomię. Nie tylko daje świadectwo (nadal), ale też stanowi kolejną warstwę dzieła sztuki. Zarazem ta właśnie sytuacja otwiera nowe perspektywy. Dokumentacja nie oznacza li tylko odtworzenia. Dokumentalista może dodać coś do sztuki.

CEL

Festiwal "Sztuka i Dokumentacja" jest ukierunkowany na dwie grupy celów.
1. Szeroko rozumianą refleksję nad zagadnieniem dokumentacji, prowadzoną zarówno przez praktyków jak i teoretyków. Ramy refleksji obejmują zarówno zagadnienie związku sztuki i dokumentacji, oraz użycie form dokumentu i rzeczywistości nieprzetworzonej w historii sztuki awangard XX wieku, jak i dyskusję nad charakterem relacji łączących dziś sztukę i dokumentację (dokumentowanie), stanowiącym jedno wiodących zagadnień sztuki współczesnej.
2. Tworzenie baz danych sztuki. Wystawy festiwalowe pokazują rozmaite sposoby wykonywania i prezentowania dokumentacji sztuki. Służą one także wymianie doświadczeń, mają więc charakter warsztatowy i edukacyjny. Organizowanie festiwalu służy gromadzeniu dokumentów sztuki w celach badawczych, poznawczych, do wykorzystania przez naukowców i nauczycieli akademickich, oraz krytyków sztuki i dziennikarzy.

SPOSOBY REALIZACJI

Ogólnie: Festiwal "Sztuka i dokumentacja" dotyczy wszelkich aspektów dokumentacji sztuki: dokument filmowy, dokument fotograficzny, strona internetowa, tekst/esej krytyczny, wydawnictwo multimedialne, druki (gazeta, periodyk, katalog), program TV, program radiowy. Festiwal "Sztuka i dokumentacja" odbywa się co roku. Główna wystawa festiwalowa dotyczy dokumentacji wykonanej w roku poprzednim. (W pierwszej edycji '09 dopuszczona została wyjątkowo także dokumentacja z roku 2007.) Inne wystawy festiwalowe mogą podejmować rozmaite tematy związane z dokumentacją sztuki. Prezentacje dokumentacji sztuki są powiązane z wymianą refleksji teoretycznej na temat rozmaitych aspektów zagadnienia dokumentacji sztuki. Wraz z festiwalem uruchamiamy stronę WWW z informacjami o zawartości archiwum i zasadach korzystania ze zgromadzonej dokumentacji sztuki.

GENERAL IDEA

Documenting art gained the particular relevance with the appearance of an avant-garde work of art which is nonorganic (according to Peter Burger "Theory of the Avant-garde"). It is deriving its forms from the collage, montage (photomontage, film montage). It is connected with the real space (environment, installations), or based on the time (live action), and finally it is a conceptual idea. Its feature is hybrid of forms and ambivalence of meanings. Contemporary works of art still are using the legacy of avant-garde. Providing documentation for that kind of work is a part of a process of shaping forms and making meanings. Documentation is gaining the great autonomy. It is not only testifying (still), but also constitutes the next layer of a work of art. All at the same time the very situation is opening new prospects. Documentation doesn't mean solely reconstructing. The documentary maker can add something to the art.

PURPOSE

The Art and Documentation Festival are directed to two groups of purposes.
1. Widely understood reflection over the issue of documentation, led both by practitioners as well as theoreticians. The framework of reflection includes both the issue of the connection of the art and documentation, and using forms of document and raw reality in the art history avant-garde of the 20th century, as well as discussion on character of relations combining the art today and documentation (documenting), constituting one of leading issues of the modern art.
2. Creation of databases of the art. Various ways making and introducing the art documentation are showing festival exhibitions. They serve also a skill-sharing, so they have workshop and educational character. Organising the festival is used for collecting documents of the art in purposes of research, cognitive, for using by scientists, academic teachers, and critics of the art and journalists.

MEANS OF REALIZATION

Generally: The Art and Documentation Festival concern all aspects of documentation of the art: film document, photographic document, website, critical text/essay, multimedia publications, printing (newspaper, periodical, catalogue), TV program, radio program. The Art & Documentation Festival is taking place every year. The main festival exhibition concerns documentation carried out in the previous year (in the first edition '09 exceptionally also documentation was allowed from 2007). Other festival exhibitions can take up various topics associated with documentation pieces. Presentations of documentation of the art are connected with the interchange of theoretical reflection about various aspects issues of documentation of the art. With the festival we are starting the web page with the information about the content of the archive and principles of using gathered documentation of the art.
